Walk to Café des Deux Moulins—featured in the film Amélie—from our Montmarte Apartment.
With its cobblestone streets, architectural landmarks, and sweet-smelling cafes, Montmarte is so picturesque, and so quintessentially Parisian, that it’s been the setting of many movies.
One of its most well-known is Amélie [aka “The Fabulous Destiny of Amélie Poulin, 2001”] about a charmingly peculiar waitress who daydreams herself into several adventures.
If you’ve seen the movie [or even if you haven’t!], you’ll likely recognize the red awning and street-facing tables of the Café des Deux Moulins, where Amélie spends her days waiting on equally quirky patrons.
Amélie fans rejoice: This cinematic landmark is just a 20 or 30-minute walk from our apartment, at 15 rue Lepic, 75018 Paris.

Wake up in the morning and stroll there for your first cup of coffee. Or relax over a glass of wine after visiting the hilltop Sacre Coeur. (Or both! It’s Paris!)
But don’t stop there. Another landmark from the movie, ‘La Maison Collignon,’ is located at 56 rue des Trois Frères, at the intersection of rue Androuet.

And just after you start the walk on rue des Saules, you will pass rue Saint-Vincent by the vineyards. It is here that Amélie and her boyfriend took their free-spirited scooter ride.
Want to take an entire Amélie tour? Here is a handy Google map outlining the route to follow. And here is a step-by-step guide from Jenna-Marie at Paris Cheapskate (a great site for budget travelers) which explains each tour stop.
Get in the spirit and give Amélie another watch before you head out to follow in her footsteps. We provide the DVD for our guests at our Montmartre, Paris apartment vacation rental!
